Product Review: Karen's Body Beautiful

I wanted to bring you all a product review on some Karen's Body Beautiful products I recently purchased.   Karen's Body Beautiful was founded in 2004 by Karen Tappin.  The company was created to "provide the purest, highest quality all-natural products and services for the hair and body."  To find about more about Karen's Body Beautiful, please visit karensbodybeautiful.com.

My decision to purchase:  For quite some some time I toyed with the idea of pruchasing from the company.  I watched several reviews on YouTube and read many blogs for information before I mad my decision to purchase.

What I purchased:  Sweet Ambrosia Leave-In Conditioner ($16), Heavenly Jojoba Hair Oil ($16), Creamylicious ($18) , and Butter Love($18 value - I got it for free as part of their weekly promotion).  Click the links to get more information about the products, including ingredients lists.  There are 16 different scents that you can choose from; I chose the Coco Mango scent and the smell is so divine.

Sweet Ambrosia
The Claim:  Detangles, softens, and moisturizes.
The Result:  This product does just what it claims.  The product was super light, but very effective when detangling my hair and my girls' hair.  In addition when this products was combined with the Hair Oil, my hair was super soft and moisturized.  Not only did I use this product right after washing my hair, I used it as a 'every other day' moisturizer.  We were out of this product in less than a month; that goes to show our love for this product.

Heavenly Jojoba Hair Oil
    The Claim:  Seal Moisture.
The Result: This product did more than just sealing the moisture in our hair.  This product moisturized and added an incredible shine to our hair.  I was very impressed with the moisture retention of this product combined with the Creamylicious.  Kae wore her hair in twist with beads on the end for 2 weeks.  When I took her beads off the ends were still very moisturized.   The Coco Mango scent made this product even more heavenly.

Creamylicious
    The Claim: Seals Moisture
The Result: I didn't use this product on my hair because the directions recommended that it be used on dry or damp hair.and I typically do not style my hair dry.  However this product was extremely effective on both my girls' hair.  Kae' hair looked very polished and mositurized; mind you she typically has hair that looks dry even if it is not dry.  It also made the girls' hair very soft and manageable.

Butter Love
    The Claim: Seals Moisture
The Result: This product is amazing in my eyes.  For the same reason above, I did not use this product on my hair.  I used this products solely on the scalp and the first half inch of the girls's hair.  I really loved this product because it keeps the scalp very moisturized.  We had very few dry patches in Kae's hair while using this product.

Overall Result:  I LOVE the products I purchased!  I loved the way it made both my hair and my girl's hair feel.  The products smelled awesome and they works just as I expected them to work, if not better. I fully intend on purchase more of the products I love and trying some more new products.  If you are considering a purchase, I would totally recommend it.

Now it's time for the pictures:

Mommy's Length Check

Okay, so here is my length check that I promised.

So I must admit that I felt like my hair growth has been slowing up lately.  I'm not sure if it is because I am not having length retention or if my hair growth has actually slowed down.  Maybe it is because I have been experimenting with new products and styles, but so I will be implementing a back to basics routine.  I have to have that 6" of hair growth I had last year :)

So on to the length check, I recently had my hair straighten for about a week. My straighten hair was the perfect opportunity to length check my hair.  To style my hair I used Con-Air Infiniti Pro flat iron and Organix Keratin Therapy flat iron spray.  Let me say it was so weird having straight hair. Not only was it a lot of maintenance, I had to get use to wrapping my hair again.

Anyways to the business as hand:)  Here are my number from my last length check.
And here are my numbers now:
Front: 8.25"
Left Side: 8"
Right Side:8.25"
Middle: 9.5
Back:8.5

And here are the pictures from my straightened hair.

April Hair Carnival: Copy Cat Style

For this month's Hair Carnival, our lovely bloggers decided that we would revisit the Copy Cat Hairstyle.  But this time around we added a little twist.  The blogger that we copied our style from would not know until we made our post.  Thanks to Brooke of Untrained Hair Mom would put this all together.

The blogger whom I would be copying is Diary of a Hair Princess.  I absolutely love the mom behind the blog, Jamie.  Not only is she a Baltimore Babe, like myself, we also deal with similar skin/eczema issues with our daughters.

Okay, so lets get to the hair styling.  Since I have two girls I decided to grab two styles.

Starting with Kae, I decided I wanted to copy this twisted hair style.  I chose this style because it was simple and I believe that I can get at least two weeks out of it.

So here is my rendition of this style:

Next up is Lea.  I really wanted some that I wouldn't have to manipulate everyday, so I decided to go with this mini braids style

The mini braids.....180 total o_O

Here is one style in mini braids we copied

And here is another style

I am really hoping that I can get at least 6 weeks from this style.

Length Checks

Hello All...I know it has been some time since I have posted, but rest assured that I am still here :-)
I have been quite busy working, being mommy, and being wife.  But I think I have developed a schedule that will give me a little more time to give you...my wonderful readers.

So to our post.  It has been quite a while since I last length checked the girls hair.  Our last length check was in the beginning of January.  You can check that post here.  I keeping up with the measuring of the girls hair because it definitely shows you the growth progress, even if you can't physically see it at all time.

Here are the numbers:

Leah:
Front - 8.5"
Left Side - 8"
Right Side - 8.75"
Back -  8.5"
Middle  9.5"

Kae:
Front - 7.25"
Left Side - 6.75"
Right Side - 7"
Back - 6.5"
Middle - 8.25"

(I will probably length check my hair in about 2 weeks)

Here are a few pictures to check out the length:
